1. Who is responsible

2. The app collects nothing

There is no data collection to describe, because there is no server to collect it. Specifically, DrumSheetScanner does not:

• require or offer an account, email address or login;
• contain any analytics, telemetry or usage measurement;
• contain any advertising or advertising identifier;
• report crashes or errors automatically;
• read your contacts, calendar, location, microphone or device identifiers;
• use cookies or comparable tracking technologies;
• transmit your photos, patterns, exports or usage behaviour to anyone.

The Android application declares no INTERNET permission, so the operating system itself prevents it from opening a network connection. On iOS it contacts no server operated by us.

3. What the app uses on your device

Each permission is requested only when you use the feature that needs it, and used only for that feature. You can refuse or later withdraw any of them in your system settings; only the feature concerned stops working.

Scanned pages, recognised patterns, sessions and settings are stored only in the app's private storage area on your device. Delete a page or a whole session in the app, or uninstall the app to remove everything at once. Your device's own system backup (iCloud or Android Auto Backup) may include app data; that backup is governed by Apple's or Google's terms and your device settings, not by us.

4. When something does leave your device

Only when you send it, and only to a destination you choose. Exported MIDI, WAV and MP3 files are created on your device and handed to your system's share sheet — we never receive them.

The one case where data may reach us is if you choose to send in a scan correction. The app can bundle up scanned pages, what the detector made of them and the corrections you made, so that recognition can be improved. This is voluntary and never automatic: you start it, you are shown beforehand how many pages and photographs the bundle contains and how large it is, and you pick the recipient in your own share sheet. Because such a bundle contains photographs of your pages, only send pages you are happy to share.

If you do send one, we use it solely to analyse and improve note recognition, on the basis of our legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR together with your voluntary submission. Ask us at any time and we will delete it.

5. Text recognition on Android

For completeness, one detail that involves your device talking to Google rather than to us: the app reads titles and tempo markings using Google's ML Kit. Recognition itself runs on your device, but on Android the recognition model may be downloaded or updated through Google Play services. Google then receives the technical request data inherent in such a download, under Google's privacy policy. Your photographs and your sheet music are not part of that — only the model is fetched, by the operating system component rather than by the app.

6. App stores and this website

Downloading, installing or updating the app is handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play, which process your account and device data as controllers under their own terms. We have no influence over that and receive no personal data from it — at most anonymous, aggregated counts from which nobody can be identified. This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no externally hosted fonts or scripts, so visiting it discloses nothing about you to any third party.

The site is hosted by IONOS SE, Montabaur, Germany, acting as our processor. As with any website, the hosting provider records technical access data in server log files — IP address, time of access, the page requested, browser and operating system — in order to operate and secure the site. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a functioning, secure website under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. These log files are held by the provider for a limited period and then deleted. We do not evaluate them, and we do not combine them with any other data.

7. If you write to us

Your message and your email address are used only to deal with your enquiry, under Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR. We keep the correspondence only as long as that requires or the law obliges, and never use your address for anything else.

8. Children

The app is suitable for all ages and collects nothing from anyone, children included. No account is needed, and no content can be posted or received through it.

9. Your rights

You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection under Art. 15 to 21 GDPR, and the right to complain to a supervisory authority under Art. 77.

In practice there is little for us to act on, since we hold nothing about you: the app's data lives on your own device, where you can view and delete it without asking anyone. If you have sent us a correction bundle or emailed us, you can exercise your rights over that material at wockibytes@gmail.com.

10. Security and changes

App data sits in the application's private storage area, which the operating system isolates from other apps and which your device's encryption covers when encryption is enabled. Since the app transmits nothing, there is no transfer of your data that anyone could intercept.

If a future version changes how data is handled, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the date at the top will change with it. The app cannot notify you, so please check here after a larger update.
